Friday night the Riverside Stake Public Affairs Committee held the inaugural Family Values Awards dinner. It is hard to put this special evening into words but it was attended by more than 60 individuals from the Stake and the community, and a special spirit was felt as we celebrated strong families and the importance they have in our society. Members of the community were invited to nominate individuals who demonstrate superior family values. Dr. David Hansen, Superintendent of RUSD, nominated RUSD Executive Secretary Nora Lopez. Riverside District Attorney Mike Hestrin chose Supervising Deputy District Attorney Gerry Lopez. Mayor Rusty Bailey chose teachers Mike and Lynda MacDonald. The evening was perfectly organized by Sister Susan Allred McKell, supported by her committee, and hosted by John M Plocher and Leisa Bodhaine Plocher.
